As I was walking Boo! last night around midnight I stepped upon something squishy. Thinking I was about to trod upon something nasty, I tried to change my stride. Since I was at the curb, this caused me an awkward downward step which resulted in my ankle rolling far too many degrees laterally, say about 90 degrees. My brain registered the fact that this was a wholly inappropriate position for my ankle about a split second before the pain signals arrived.
Today we went to the hospital because I figured it’s better to be safe than crippled. They took some X-rays (they have cool stars on the ceiling of the X-ray room) and though they didn’t show the X-rays to me the doctor assured me they showed no broken bones. So now I’m in a splint and on crutches with a recovery time of 2-4 weeks. I’m told tomorrow will be worse than today.
